Taxation of high earners – Mercer webcast

UK
London, 21 October 2009

Mercer is holding a webcast on the implications of the Finance Act 2009 on high earners and employers. The event is scheduled for 2pm on 3 November and will be attended by senior HR and finance professionals, remuneration committee members, CEOs and senior legal professionals.

Eddie Hodgart, a principal at Mercer, said: “The tax changes announced in April’s budget speech could result in the biggest shake up of UK reward and HR strategies for high earners in recent years affecting more than half a million employees.

“The proposals to change the basis of pension tax relief is particularly complex and many companies are still unaware of how far-reaching the full proposals are, including just how many employees will be affected and in turn how this might affect the company’s cash flow.”

The webcast will attempt to demystify the technical detail of the proposed legislation and explore the issues employers should be considering in both the short and medium term:

  • Is the current compensation and benefit programme appropriate for higher earners?
  • What changes can be made to the compensation and benefit programme?
  • How can the needs and circumstances of the individual be balanced in the context of the corporate strategy?
  • What obligations are there for employers?
