Mercer today announced it had been appointed by ANZ to provide administration and member services for the ANZ Australian Staff Superannuation Scheme. ANZ’s staff scheme has 30,000 members and $2 billion in funds under management and will become one of Mercer’s largest outsourcing clients in Australia.
ANZ will transfer the administration of their staff superannuation scheme including administration of the insured benefits for death, total permanent disability and salary continuance to Mercer from early 2010. In addition, Mercer will provide services to assist members including helpline services, claims handling and online services to allow members easy access to information regarding their superannuation.
Chairman of the Trustee of ANZ Staff Super, Russell Rechner said: “Mercer are best positioned to deliver the services we are currently looking to provide our members and also to continue to develop and improve member services in the future.”
Mr David Anderson, Business Leader of Mercer’s outsourcing business for Asia Pacific said Mercer and ANZ share a commitment to empowering members to make informed decisions about their superannuation.
“We will work with members of the ANZ Australian Staff Superannuation Scheme. The key is establishing a personal connection tailored to the needs of members – their demographics, life-stage and preferred communication.
“Employers and fund trustees are seeking both an economic and high quality outsourcing solution that not only reduces their administrative and regulatory burden but also improves the service experience and retirement outcomes for their members,” he said.
The announcement follows the recent appointment of Mercer by Non Government Schools Superannuation Fund and the Retirement Benefits Fund of Tasmania.
Mr Anderson added that Mercer is a market leader in outsourced superannuation services in Australia and continues to expand its services to members, including the launch of new online and SMS based communication with members while rapidly continuing to expand the outsourcing team.
“Given the series of recent large outsourcing wins, we’re in a strong hiring phase and are attracting some great people to complement our existing talent pool. We’re always looking to add unique skills and experiences to our team,” Mr Anderson concluded.
